ColdCallBlocker™ for Windows™ User Guide - Contacts

Click the "Contacts" button on the ColdCallBlockerMain window to update information about the people who telephone you. Doing so will show the following window which is a personal list of callers that is unique to you:

ColdCallBlocker Main Window

After installing ColdCallBlocker™ for the first time your contact list will be empty so to get started simply click on the "New Contact" button and the following window will be displayed:

New Contact

Each "contact" record in ColdCallBlocker™ can represent one of three things:

  • A regular caller who you DO want to hear from.
  • A cold-caller who you do NOT wish to receive telephone calls from.
  • A wildcard filter to block calls from multiple numbers.

Enter the name and telephone number of a specific caller and be sure to select the correct country that they telephone you from. The details you enter here will be displayed in the "Incoming Call Notification Window" when they call. Select the "Treat as Cold Caller" option if you would like ColdCallBlocker™ to reject the call.

The process for creating a wildcard record to filter, for example, all calls from an entire area code, is almost identical. Enter a descriptive name for the filter in the first field and specify a value for at least the area code in the "Telephone Number" fields. The final stage of creating a wildcard filter is to select the "Starts with" option. ColdCallBlocker™ will then filter all incoming calls where the Caller ID begins with as much as the telephone number that you entered.

If you ever wish to receive calls from a blocked contact in the future use the "Edit" button and uncheck the "Treat as Cold Caller" box. Alternatively erase the entire contact record using the "Delete" button

One final note: we suggest that you use contact records to store data only about people that you know personally. Unknown cold-callers should be reported to us using the much quicker "Report as Cold Call" button on the main window. By doing so you can help us monitor the real-time calling patterns of current cold-callers and build up an even larger database in order to stop as many nuisance calls as we can. ColdCallBlocker™ automatically blocks cold-callers that you have reported without the need to manually create contact records as described on this page and regardless of whether or not you have a current subscription to the ColdCallBlocker Network™.
